Tech Strategy and Targets (Nikhita)

Strategy and Targets

1.
Given that technology is always changing it is in out best interest to keep on point and follow changes in technology. As Technological manger I always keep up to date with technical changes through being signed up to all the construction and design newsletters. I am also heavily involved in forums, this allows people from the same profession to post and have conversation about the new products. This is something that is done almost week to keep up to date. In five years we also look to set up our own technical forum where we can share our technical expertise with our peers, this will increase the firm’s reputation.

2.
The current trends towards greater use of integrated information systems seem likely to continue, but much more quickly in scenarios that are innovative and dynamic. The implications are greatest for the professionals in the construction industry, as they will need a wider skill base in ICT to integrate design, construction, logistics and manufacturing. Training will be needed at all levels. Inductions are carried out with Cube Studios. This is in relation to out quality assurance and the training policy we follow within our company. When a new technology comes available and Cube Studios wants to use it, there will be a week training session getting the employees used to it. Having a week will realistically be enough time for getting comfortable with the technology. In the future when more advanced and technical projects machines become available more training time will be allocated of up to three weeks.

3.
We see the technology ever changing, we envision that the virtual reality side of our business plan will change year on year. With the advancements in technology we found that virtual reality is increasing in popularity. At the current moment we give the clients this experience through a headpiece, but we envision in five years we can hold virtual reality in a room within the premises. We will have space for a room where clients/investors and management can all experience the property at the same. This will allow multiple clients to see the product at the same time.

4.
Our construction costs in the UK is the highest in Europe. The recent growth in the construction sector is a positive sign as our business in now coming into this boom. We envision that the industry will continue to grow and increase. If we reach out into the current boom at the start of the 2021, we believe this will benefit us.

5.
Due to the ever-changing technology advancements, sometimes I might need to travel to other destination to see a new tech system or material. This will cost time and money at the beginning but we envision that within the five year will add another a member to the team that will take over jobs in Nottingham while I will be away on business trips.

6.
As well as using virtual reality, we found building information modelling (BIM) allows designers and contractors to find conflicts and other problems before construction begins. This is the future of construction and Cube Studios is keen to follow this trend. We will use BIM through all our projects. Within the first couple of years BIM will just be used by the frim but after 5 years will then go into Building assembly modelling (BAM) which allows for a significant decrease in construction costs. Once complete, BAM is turned over and becomes a building owner operator model (BOOM). This allows the owner to manage the building over time and ensure optimized building performance throughout its entire life cycle. We feel this is the future creating ‘better design, better construction, better operation’.
